Massimo Anelli, to California and Back

AFTER A PHD AT DAVIS, THE LABOR MARKET SCHOLAR WILL BE RETURNING TO HIS ALMA MATER AS AN ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

For Massimo Anelli this fall will be a sort of homecoming. He will be returning to Bocconi, where he obtained his undergraduate and masters degrees, from the University of California, Davis, where he earned his Ph.D in Economics. Massimo will join the Bocconi Department of Policy Analysis and Public Management as an Assistant Professor.
 
He plans on splitting his time at Bocconi between doing research, teaching, enjoying the cultural life Milan has to offer, eating good food, and having aperitivo with his friends.
The two classes he will teach will be Applications for economics, management, and finance and Public finance.
 
His research mostly focuses on Labor Economics, Migration, Economics of Education, and  Economics of Gender. His recent projects have been on the determinants of the gender wage gap and on the effects of classroom gender interaction, of gender of siblings, and of foreign peers on choice of field of study. While at Bocconi, he hopes to “produce new and relevant empirical evidence that could inform policy makers and public debate about education and labor market”.
 
One thing Massimo is going to miss when he leaves California is surfing. But, he looks forward to moving to Milan so he can enjoy biking along the Navigli or skiing on the slopes in the Alps.
