Gianmario Verona New CoEditor of Strategic Organization

THE JOURNAL AIMS TO BRIDGE THE TWO MAIN FIELDS OF MANAGEMENT: STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT AND ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR

Gianmario Verona, TIM Chair in Marketing Innovation, has been appointed co-editor of Strategic Organization, a Sage Publishing peer-reviewed academic journal established in 2003 targeted to researchers, teachers, students, and practitioners of strategic management and organization.

“The mission of Strategic Organization”, Prof. Verona says, “is to bridge the two main fields of Management: Strategic Management and Organizational Behavior. In the last 20 years the divergence has become more and more manifest, as Strategic Management felt the methodological influence of Economics, while Organizational Behavior was strongly affected by developments in Sociology and Psychology. The project of Strategic Organization was born in the late ’90 in the US, as some hybrid management topics emerged, such as the increasing importance of technology adoption and innovation within many sectors; MNE’s strategic failures in many industries; the unsatisfactory outcome of too many M&A deals. All these phenomena highlight how traditional Organizational Behavior variables like human capital present a strategic relevance for firms and require additional and inter-disciplinary focus”.

“The journal also aims to be of considerable interest to senior managers in government, industry, and particularly the growing management consulting industry. The journal is international and interdisciplinary in its appeal”, Strategic Organization’s website states.

Prof. Verona joins four other co-editors: Robert David (McGill University), Teppo Felin (University of Oxford), Ann Langley (HEC Montreal) and Tim Rowley (Rotman School of Management).
