The Largest Management Research Center in Europe Receives 5m Euro Donation, Is Named after Fondazione Invernizzi

ICRIOS, THE INVERNIZZI CENTER FOR RESEARCH ON INNOVATION, ORGANIZATION, STRATEGY AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP, INCLUDES MORE THAN 50 SCHOLARS

Following a donation of 5 million euro, the largest management research center in Europe has been named today after the Fondazione Romeo and Enrica Invernizzi. ICRIOS, The Invernizzi Center for Research on Innovation, Organization, Strategy and Entrepreneurship, gathers more than 50 scholars not only from Bocconi University, but also from other important national and international institutions.

"The center", said its President, Franco Malerba, "studies strategy, innovation, organization and entrepreneurship and is committed to always be on the frontier of knowledge; to use interdisciplinary methods; to combine rigor, relevance and independence ".

Among the themes of ICRIOS research: sustainability, the neurological basis of managerial behavior, the effectiveness of innovation policies, the role of patents (the Center manages a database of European patents used by researchers from all over the world), organizational architecture, formal and informal networks, entrepreneurship in family businesses. ICRIOS wants to focus on a small set of key issues, in order to understand the relationships between innovation, business competitiveness and global economic growth.

"The link between Fondazione Invernizzi and Bocconi dates back to 25 years ago", said the Rector of the University, Andrea Sironi, during the naming ceremony, "and has grown thanks to important philanthropic donations. This funding supports major research projects and the education of new generations of researchers in our various research centers and at SDA Bocconi School of Management". In 2011 the Chair in Development Economics, held by Eliana La Ferrara, was named after the Fondazione Invernizzi.

"The Fondazione Romeo and Enrica Invernizzi was established 25 years ago”, said the President, Anselmo Stucchi (depicted above), "and has always supported initiatives in the fields of food science, medicine and economics by funding awards, scholarships and advanced research projects. We are strongly committed to support ICRIOS, because we believe that the issues it focuses on are an important and essential contribution to our country’s business environment, in that they provide ideas and innovations to entrepreneurs today and in the future ".
