Deutsche Bank and Bocconi: A Chair to Study the Economic Effects of Demographic Trends

THE BANK RENEWS AND DEEPENS THE STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP WITH THE UNIVERSITY BY ESTABLISHING AN ENDOWED CHAIR HELD BY CARLO FAVERO. THE TWO INSTITUTIONS HAVE COLLABORATED SINCE 1997

Deutsche Bank renews its strategic partnership with Bocconi University by signing an agreement that establishes the endowed Deutsche Bank Chair in Quantitative Finance and Asset Pricing, held by Carlo Favero, a full professor of Bocconi’s Department of Finance.
The agreement, signed by Deutsche Bank’s Chief Country Officer, Flavio Valeri, and Bocconi's Chief Executive, Bruno Pavesi, renders permanent the chair already set up in 2010 in temporary form.

An endowed chair is a chair whose scientific activities, teaching and dissemination are funded from the proceeds of an endowment fund, donated for charitable purposes by an individual or a company and invested by the University.

Deutsche Bank has collaborated with Bocconi since 1997, participating in the Partner Program for Development, and in 2010 was the first foreign group to sign a strategic partnership agreement with the University, funding scholarships (Bocconi Merit Awards), research programs and a professorship and giving its name to a classroom in the Roentgen building.

The Chair’s research program focuses on the interplay between demographic trends and asset prices, with particular attention to the economic and financial consequences of the secular growth in longevity.

"I am very satisfied with the renewed agreement with Bocconi", said Valeri, "which permanently marks the partnership between one of the most prestigious universities in the world and Deutsche Bank. This agreement is the result of years of successful collaboration between these two institutions in various fields, from research to education, and represents one of the highest expressions of the commitment of the Bank to the education of the young talents that make up our future”.

"The demographic trends affect economic growth, share prices, interest rates, the sustainability of pension systems and the profitability of banks and insurance companies. Bocconi University considers these issues of great relevance. Thanks to the invaluable support of Deutsche Bank, a number of researchers are engaged in the study and understanding of these phenomena. Among these, a major role is played by Carlo Favero, Deutsche Bank Chair in Quantitative Finance and Asset Pricing, Director of Bocconi’s Department of Finance and former consultant for institutions such as the Ministry of the Treasury, the European Commission, the World Bank and the European Central Bank. The strategic partnership with Deutsche Bank represents, as well as an important economic support, a source of pride and prestige for our University", says Bocconi’s Rector, Andrea Sironi.
