Pietro Muliere Becomes a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics

THIS HONOR IS ONLY GRANTED TO A SMALL NUMBER OF SCHOLARS

Pietro Muliere, Professor Emeritus of Statistics, has been accepted as a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS), founded in 1935 to foster the development and dissemination of the theory of mathematical statistics as well as its practical applications.
 
IMS counts some 3,500 members throughout the world, though no more than 15% of them have been named as “Fellows”. This honor is awarded after a rigorous selection process to scholars who have achieved particular authoritativeness in this field and have contributed significantly to the advancement of the discipline.
 
Muliere’s achievement has been motivated with his “excellent research contributions to nonparametric Bayesian statistics, inspirational teaching, and steadfast long-term leadership of statistics research programs at both the national and international levels.”
