A Place for Steccolini in the Faculty Board of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy

, by Benedetta Ciotto
The appointment of the Bocconi Professor in the international professional body for people in public finance will be an occasion to help set the agenda and to meet academics, practitioners and policy makers

Ileana Steccolini, Professor at the Department of Policy Analysis and Public Management at Bocconi, has joined the faculty board of the CIPFA (Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy), the professional accountancy body dedicated to public finance in the world.

"The mission of the CIPFA is to train future generations of professionals in the field of accounting and public finance, and generally to help improve the management of public money, acting as an important connection between the world of practice and public policies and the academic one", explains Steccolini, who recently participated as a plenary speaker in the eighth Asia-Pacific Interdisciplinary Research in Accounting Conference, where she talked about public accounting systems.

"As an independent member of the Board I'll have the opportunity to help set the agenda of research initiatives and of policy impact, to meet academics as well as professionals and policy makers", she continues. "This position reflects the passion I've always devoted to studying the role that the public budgets play in ensuring transparency, improving management and strengthening citizen's involvement in contributing to the change in public administration processes. But, above all, it represents a further incentive for a continuous confrontation with the professional world and with policy, at a national as well as at an international level".
