SDA Bocconi, Bruno Busacca Appointed New Dean

HE WILL DIRECT THE SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT FOR THE NEXT TWO YEARS. THE APPOINTMENT COMPLETES THE NEW TEAM OF THE RECTOR, ANDREA SIRONI

Change at the helm of SDA Bocconi, the school of management of Università Bocconi in Milan, with the appointment as Dean of Bruno Busacca, professor at the Department of Marketing. Busacca, who succeeds Alberto Grando, in charge since 2006, has been appointed Dean of the school today by the University Board, upon proposal of the Rector Andrea Sironi, and will hold the post for the next two years.

“I am happy to add Bruno Busacca to my rectoral team and am sure he will contribute in line with the precious input that Albert Grando gave in his six years as Dean,” comments Sironi. “Years in which SDA Bocconi managed to grow its international presence and reputation, facing up positively to the difficult moment of the crisis of the market and stronger global competition. A success which also saw SDA consolidate its position in all the most important international rankings.”

After completing his studies at HEC Paris and the School of Business Administration of Berkeley University, Busacca directed the Marketing Department and then the Executive Education Custom Programs Division - Corporate (2004-08) and the Masters Division of SDA Bocconi (since 2008). He has published numerous books and papers in international journals on the subjects of customer analysis, marketing strategy and value creation, customer satisfaction and brand management.

“This appointment represents a great honour for me,” declares Busacca, “and the fact that it follows on a few days from the touching event in which we at SDA remembered our master, professor Claudio Demattè, founder of the school, heightens its value on a symbolical and emotional level.” Busacca also highlighted the excellent results obtained by SDA Bocconi under the guidance of Alberto Grando, declaring his desire to guide his mandate in the direction of continuity, with a particular focus on innovation and international development. “I am comforted in the pursuit of these challenging objectives,” he continues, “by my knowledge of the School and its mechanisms, accumulated in the years from different perspectives, and especially by the certainty of being able to count upon people and staff of great quality.”

With this appointment the team of the Rector Andrea Sironi, who took office at the beginning of October, is completed and includes Marco Agliati, Vice-Rector for Internal Organization, Tito Boeri, Vice Rector for Research, Stefano Caselli, Vice Rector for International Affairs; Alberto Grando, Vice Rector for Development, Lorenzo Peccati, Vice Rector for the Faculty, Giovanni Valotti, Vice Rector for Institutional Relations, Antonella Carù, Dean of the Undergraduate School, Francesco Saita, Dean of the Graduate School, Stefano Liebman, Dean of the School of Law and Alfonso Gambardella, Dean of the PhD School.
