Florian Nagler, a new entry for the Department of Finance

AFTER A PH.D IN VIENNA AND SEVERAL CONFERENCES AND SEMINARS AROUND THE WORLD HE'S NOW ASSISTANT PROFESSOR FOR THE 2016/2017 ACADEMIC YEAR

Straight from Vienna, on September 2016 Florian Nagler's come to Bocconi to enrich the Department of Finance. The research interests of the new Assistant Professor are in the field of credit in liquidity risk, especially in the context of corporate bond markets. “My research also focuses on the intersection of corporate finance and asset pricing, That is, I use ideas from corporate finance to elaborate on asset pricing phenomena in equity and debt markets”, says Nagler, who recently obtained a Ph.D from the Vienna Graduate School of Finance.

Besides the Ph.D., in his academic curriculum there are participations in several international conferences including the American Finance Association, European Finance Association and Western Finance Association, where he presented his research. Nagler also had the chance to give seminars in some important international universities, such as London Business School, HEC Paris and Said Business School at Oxford. “I’m dedicated to research, but when I’m not busy studying or teaching I enjoy running or hiking”.

“I chose to join Bocconi because I was fascinated by the lively research environment at the Finance Department”, he says. “Moreover, I felt that Bocconi as an institution has ‘momentum’ - I liked the idea of becoming part of such a fast-developing school. In terms of my career, I felt that if I want to contribute to academia then I need to join a school to which I can commit myself in the long run”.
