How Technologies Affect Marketers

BOCCONI UNIVERSITY IS HOSTING A JAMS THOUGHT LEADERS' CONFERENCE ON LEVERAGING TECHNOLOGY TO CREATE VALUE FOR CONSUMERS AND FIRMS

Leveraging technology to create value for consumers and firms is not only one of the main challenges companies across the world and throughout industries are facing, but also the topic of the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science (JAMS) Thought Leaders’ Conference at Bocconi University from today to Wednesday, 12 June.

Some 68 scholars from 45 universities and 11 countries will discuss how technological advances can be leveraged to deliver superior products and services to customers and how innovation in the digital economy affects consumer behavior. JAMS has at the same time launched a call for papers for a Special Issue on Innovating in the Digital Economy: Leveraging Technology to Create Value for Consumers and Firms, but the two things are to be considered independent. Authors were welcome to engage in one or both of these activities.

After today’s reception, the conference will kick-off tomorrow morning with a welcome speech by Bocconi’s Department of Marketing Director Andrea Ordanini and a keynote speech by Wharton University’s Robert Meyer.

The conference is chaired by two Bocconi Professors, Paolo Guenzi and Gabriele Troilo, along with Francesca Sotgiu (VU Amsterdam), John Hulland (Terry College of Business University of Georgia), and Stefan Worm (BI Norwegian Business School).

Some of the papers presented at the conference are co-authored by Bocconi scholars, including two papers by Paolo Guenzi on the digital transformation of sales (with Johannes Habel) and social media and sales (with Edwin Nijssen) and one by Gabriele Troilo (with Luigi De Luca and Dennis Herhausen) on the return on investment in big data.
