On the journey to becoming a scholar, Bocconi gives great attention to empower PhD students in different aspects. One of the main ones is developing strong research skills. In fact, PhD students are mentored by top-rated scholars who actively contribute to a variety of international research communities, which leads to effective results. Most of them publish on scholarly journals during their program, and sometimes on top-rated one, as recently happened to Marta Catalano, now an assistant professor at the University of Warwick, who co-authored a forthcoming paper on The Annals of Statistics.
The quality of the programs translates into a rising number of applications and a challenging selection process. PhD applicants for the year 2021-22 increased nearly 25% compared to the year 2020-21, which leads to 1 in 20 being admitted to PhD programs.
