Why a PhD at Bocconi is Worth it

BOCCONI PHD CANDIDATES, ON AVERAGE, TEND TO REALIZE THEIR CAREER GOALS. BOCCONI PHD DAY IS THE CHANCE TO UNDERSTAND WHAT BOCCONI PHD SCHOOL HAS TO OFFER

Finding a fulfilling career path is everyone’s dream. Among those who realize this dream, there are many Bocconi PhD graduates longing for a job in research. Last year, alumna Naila Shofia started to work as Assistant Professor at Yale-NUS College and, on average, graduates receive interesting offers from all over the world, with 64% working in academia, 9% in Central Banks/ IMF/ World Bank, and 27% in other institutions.

Bocconi PhD Day, on 21 October 2021, will be a great opportunity for better understanding the prospectives of this path and what the PhD School has to offer.

The Bocconi PhD School coordinates and supervises the following PhD programs:
On the journey to becoming a scholar, Bocconi gives great attention to empower PhD students in different aspects. One of the main ones is developing strong research skills. In fact, PhD students are mentored by top-rated scholars who actively contribute to a variety of international research communities, which leads to effective results. Most of them publish on scholarly journals during their program, and sometimes on top-rated one, as recently happened to Marta Catalano, now an assistant professor at the University of Warwick, who co-authored a forthcoming paper on The Annals of Statistics

The quality of the programs translates into a rising number of applications and a challenging selection process. PhD applicants for the year 2021-22 increased nearly 25% compared to the year 2020-21, which leads to 1 in 20 being admitted to PhD programs.

To most of the PhD candidates, Bocconi grants a competitive tuition waiver and stipend for the duration of their program.
