Giacinto della Cananea Wins Accademia dei Lincei Prize

The Accademia dei Lincei, Italy's most prestigious cultural institution, awarded this year's Giuseppe Mantellini Prize to Professor Giacinto della Cananea , Bocconi Department of Legal Studies. The award ceremony is being held today in the presence of President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, underscoring the importance of this recognition.
The prize is awarded to the Italian author of the best works in legal science applied to Public Administration, as judged by a committee headed by Roberto Antonelli, President of the Academy, and is named after Giuseppe Mantellini, a legal scholar who in the second half of the 19th century worked to establish the legal foundations of the Public Administration of the new unified state.
Giacinto della Cananea has won the prize with his book Il nucleo comune dei diritti amministrativi in Europa (The Common Core of Administrative Rights in Europe), a field of study for which he is principal investigator under an ERC advanced grant. In the prize-winning work, a comparative scientific analysis is made of the basic norms of administrative law under which powers and limitations of public administrations of European Union countries are defined.
