Eliana La Ferrara Reaches EEA's Leadership

, by Fabio Todesco
The Fondazione Invernizzi Professor of Development Economics has been elected Vice President of the European Economic Association for 2016 and will follow a path which leads to Presidency in 2018

Eliana La Ferrara (Department of Economics, Fondazione Invernizzi Professor of Development Economics) has been elected Vice-President of the European Economic Association (EEA) for 2016. Two more Bocconi professors, Jerome Adda and Antonella Trigari, have been elected in the Council.

The election implies a four-year commitment. La Ferrara will take office as Vice-President in 2016, as President-Elect in 2017, as President in 2018 and as Past-President in 2019. In all the four years she will sit on EEA's Executive Committee.

The main responsibilities of the EEA President are the supervision and coordination of the Association's authorities decision-making processes and the organization of the Congress in the year of presidency – a task to be worked on once elected as Vice-President.

Established in the mid-80's, EEA is an international scientific body, with membership open to all persons involved or interested in economics and currently counts more than 3,100 members.
