Pietro Sirena at Bocconi. After More than Sixteen Years of Teaching

His main research interests are European Law and the circulation of the Italian legal model in South America and Israel. A passion for the international dimension of research and teaching of Private and Civil Law

Since September 2016, Pietro Sirena's been working as Full Professor at the Department of Law at Bocconi, where he teaches Private Law and Civil Law at the School of Law and Introduction to the Legal System at the Undergraduate School. He has a degree in Law at the University of Rome, a PhD in Private Law in Pisa and sixteen years of research and teaching as a Full Professor at the University of Siena.

The Professor has been invited to spend periods of study and research and to hold seminars at the Universities of Heidelberg, Oxford, Humboldt, Haifa, as well as at the Max Planck-Institute in Hamburg.

His main interests are focused on the Europeanization of national legal systems, but also on the circulation of the Italian legal model outside Europe, particularly in South America and in Israel. "The most positive aspect of Bocconi lies in the international character of its teaching and research, which attracts students and faculty from all over the world ", he says.

Sirena is currently Membre associé of the Académie de Droit International Comparé, Fellow of the European Law Institute (ELI), and member of the Executive Board of the Society of European Contract Law (SECOLA). On a national level, he is Secretary-General of the Italian Civil Lawyers Association and Director of the Italian Society for Research in Comparative Law (SIRD).
