Chiara Mosca Member of CONSOB
TODAY THE INAUGURAL MEETING WAS HELD. THE BOCCONI JURIST WAS APPOINTED IN AUGUST BY A DECREE OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLICThe inaugural meeting of Chiara Mosca as a Member of the Commissione Nazionale per le Società e la Borsa (CONSOB), the supervisory authority for the Italian financial products market, was held today. The Commission is a collective body comprising a President and four Members, appointed by decree of the President of the Republic, on recommendation of the Prime Minister. The members hold office for seven years and they may not stand for re-election.
Chiara Mosca, Associate Professor of Commercial Law at Bocconi, succeeds Anna Genovese, who left office at the end of her term, on 14 July. She completes a team made up of the President, Paolo Savona, and the members Giuseppe Maria Berruti, Carmine Di Noia and Paolo Ciocca.
The inauguration completes a process which began on 24 June with the recommendation of Chiara Mosca's name by the Prime Minister, continued in July with the hearings at the Finance Commission of the Chamber of Deputies and at the Finance and Treasury Commission of the Senate, and culminated with the appointment decree by the President of the Republic on 6 August.
Set up in 1974, CONSOB counts as its second President the late Guido Rossi, a Bocconian lawyer, between 1981 and 1982.
A graduate in business from Bocconi, Chiara Mosca also holds an MSc in Law and Accounting from the London School of Economics and a PhD in Commercial Law from the Catholic University of Milan. Her main scientific interests include the regulation of financial markets and, in particular, of takeover bids.
Chiara Mosca is a member of the editorial board of Rivista delle Società, the prestigious journal of corporate law whose editors have included many Bocconi lawyers, such as Ariberto Mignoli, Piergaetano Marchetti, Marco Ventoruzzo, and Federico Ghezzi.
