Seven Times Demography into Thin Air

, by Fabio Todesco
The Alpine Population Conference, which gathers population scholars in La Thuile, crosses the line of the seventh edition

Hans-Peter Kohler (University of Pennsylvania) and Alberto Palloni (University of Wisconsin) will be the ski-note speakers of Alp-Pop 2017, the seventh edition of the , Alpine Population Conference, to be held in La Thuile (Aosta, Italy), January 15-18.

The light-hearted title of ski-note speaker is due to the fact that La Thuile is a winter resort with convenient access to ski slopes, but the conference schedule is tight, with a program packed with paper and poster presentations. Thirty-two scholars will present their works about population issues across several disciplines, including demography, economics, epidemiology, political science, sociology, and psychology.

"Human capital, assortative mating and social inequality", "The impact of welfare and ethnicity on family outcomes", "Education, subjective and relational aspects", "Family and fertility" and "Gender across life course domains" are the topics of the five sessions.

Alp-Pop is organized by the Carlo F. Dondena Centre for Research on Social Dynamics and Public Policy at Università Bocconi and the Swiss National Centre of Competence in Research LIVES: Overcoming vulnerability: Life course perspectives.
