Bocconi Tops Continental Europe in Economics Research Ranking

THE RANKING, CARRIED OUT BY TILBURG UNIVERSITY, IS BASED ON PUBLICATIONS IN 35 TOP PEER REVIEWED JOURNALS

With its 21st position worldwide, Bocconi University is the best-placed university of Continental Europe, and the best of any non-English speaking country, in the Tilburg University Economics Schools Research Ranking, which ranks universities according to the publications in 35 leading peer-reviewed journals, evenly weighted. The current ranking considers the 2013-2017 five-year period.

“This result doesn’t come out of the blue”, says Dean for Research Marco Ottaviani, “but is the latest step of a steady progression. Furthermore, this ranking considers only the very best scholarly journals, and Bocconi’s placement vindicates our choice to incentivize the production of top quality research”.

Tilburg’s is the last of a spate of rankings that confirm Bocconi’s standing among the top universities in the world, “but this one measures universities according to their most important dimension: research”, Prof. Ottaviani concludes. “Research precedes teaching, because you can’t have knowledge transfer without knowledge production”.
