Baffi Carefin's Banking Conference back to Rome

The research center promotes the second edition of the event (16 and 17 march) along with the Review of Financial Studies and Sapienza University's Faculty of Economics. Nobel laureate Jean Tirole to give the keynote address

A keynote address by Nobel Prize laureate Jean Tirole, four academic sessions and a policy roundtable. Baffi Carefin Centre for Applied Research on International Markets, Banking, Finance and Regulation is among the promoters of the 2018 Banking Conference on "New Frontiers in Banking: from Corporate Governance to Risk management", to be held at Rome's Sapienza University on March 16-17. The other promoters are the Review of Financial Studies, a leading scholarly journal, and the Faculty of Economics, Sapienza University.

Professor Tirole's keynote address will tackle "New Threats on Financial stability and the Future of Financial Regulation".

Stefano Caselli (Bocconi's Department of Finance) is Program Co-Chair with Sapienza University's Marina Brogi and will chair one of the paper presentation sessions.

The policy roundtable, moderated by Financial Times' Banking Editor Martin Arnold, will be attended by Mario Nava (Director, European Commission and Designated Chairman CONSOB), Salvatore Rossi (President IVASS and Senior Deputy Governor, Bank of Italy), Anneli Tuominen (Director General, FIN-FSA; voting member, Supervisory Board of the ECB; Vice-Chair, ESMA), and Marina Brogi. Carmine Di Noia (Commissioner, CONSOB) will chair a paper presentation session.

The objective of the conference is to provide a discussion forum for academics and practitioners on issues such as the stability of banking systems, that are hot both in the public debate and in academic discourse.

The third edition, with the same format, will be held in 2019 at Bocconi in Milan.
