Back to Values to Overcome the Crisis

A BOCCONI TEAM LED BY VERONICA VECCHI CURATED THE TRANSFORMATION MAP ON VALUES PUBLISHED BY THE WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM IN THEIR STRATEGIC INTELLIGENCE ONLINE SECTION

Values have always been a transformational force that drives change across communities, economies and global issues. All the more so now, in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis, when  we are called upon to make momentous decisions about our future, the pursuance of common good, human dignity, and trust.

Values are the topic of the new Transformation Map just published in the Strategic Intelligence section of the World Economic Forum website, curated by a team of Bocconi University and SDA Bocconi School of Management professors led by Veronica Vecchi, Associate Professor of Practice in Business Government Relations at SDA Bocconi, along with a WEF team.

As a member of the Global Universities Leaders Forum, a community comprised of the Presidents of 29 of the world’s top universities, Bocconi is among the universities, think tanks, international organizations and other research institutions collaborating with the World Economic Forum in drawing their Transformation Maps.  This dynamic knowledge tool covers more than 100 industries, countries and issues shaping the modern world. Every map also comes with a section featuring in-depth contributions from a selected group of specialized websites, and Bocconi Knowledge is among the news outlets chosen to feed the section.

The Bocconi team, also including Nicoletta Balbo, Niccolò Cusumano, Edoardo Croci, Viviana Mangiaterra, Alessia Melegaro, Carlo Salvato and Gianluca Salviotti leveraged their multi-disciplinary backgrounds in drawing a map (CLICK HERE) structured in five sub-items: common good; human dignity; trust; digital equity; environment.

“Values identified in collaboration with WEF are a proxy for the wider concept of Public Value, which can be pursued and maximized when public institutions and private organizations co-evolve together. These values are even more important in the aftermath of the global Covid-19 outbreak, because they can inspire policies and managerial decisions that make communities more resilient”, Prof. Vecchi said.

Before the Transformation Map on Values, Bocconi curated a map on Italy and a map on Institutional Investors.
