How to Publish in Top Tier Journals

, by Fabio Todesco
A joint seminar with AMJ and the Academy of Management

If "publish or perish" sounds harsh, what about "publish in top-tier journals or perish"? The Getting Published in Top Tier Journals: Guidance and Insights seminar (Università Bocconi, May 7-8) aims at helping emerging scholars' face the increasingly competitive academic world.

Academy of Management Journal (AMJ) and the Organization and Theory Division of the Academy of Management have chosen Bocconi's Department of Management and Technology and SDA Bocconi School of Management's Claudio Demattè Research Division to host and co-organize the seminar.

The seminar is articulated in two sections: a discussion with AMJ editors open to all Bocconi faculty and a paper development workshop open to twenty young international researchers selected in the last months with a call. The workshop will focus on aspects that, in the AMJ editors' experience, are often significant barriers to publishing in top-tier journals: asking the right questions, identifying a significant theoretical contribution and framing and presenting the study. The participants will receive feedback on their draft papers from a mentor and other participants. The six-member group of mentors includesKevin Corley (Arizona State University), Gerry George (Imperial College, London), Tim Pollock (Penn State University), Royston Greenwood (University of Alberta) and Bocconi's Davide Ravasi and Beppe Soda.
