Adam Eric Greenberg Listed Among Best 50 Undergraduate Professors in Business

THE RANKING WAS COMPILED BY POETS AND QUANTS FOR UNDERGRADS

Adam Eric Greenberg, Assistant Professor at Bocconi’s Department of Marketing, made it into the Poets&Quants list of the Top 50 Undergraduate Business School Professors for 2020. Bocconi is one of the three universities with campuses outside the US that have a professor on the list and Adam Eric Greenberg, 33, is one of the youngest listed scholars.

In drawing up the list, Poets&Quants for Undergrads’ editorial staff received nominations from students, faculty, alumni, and administrators, and evaluated the nominated professors in two categories: research and teaching. Each nominated professor was given a 1-to-10 score for research and teaching. Then research was given 30% weight and teaching was assigned70% weight. For research, the volume of Google Scholar citations, the attention the professors’ research has received in the media, and research and writing awards were considered. For teaching, the editorial staff considered all nominations, teaching awards, and internet reviews like Rate My Professors.

This year, nearly 900 nominations for over 100 professors were considered.

In Professor Greenberg’s profile that accompanies the list, he tells how he decided to focus on marketing while pursuing a Ph.D. in Economics. “I found that the kind of research I wanted to do did not fit squarely into my discipline. In my research, I wanted to borrow from several fields and combine methods from behavioral economics and consumer psychology, so marketing was a great fit for my interests,” he says.

Professor Greenberg’s research focuses primarily on consumer financial decision making. “Adam is an authority on consumer financial decision making,” one of the people that nominated Prof. Greenberg wrote to Poets&Quants for Undergrads, “and particularly how people think about debt and financial resources, looking at how debt affects subjective well-being, examining how attitudes and behaviors vary as a function of the specific financial product, thus having established an impactful research niche.”

Poets&Quants for Undergrads, established in 2014 as a spillover of Poets&Quants, is a self-defined “place to give advice and counsel to applicants, share information, and make friends”, with the goal “to create a helpful community of people interested in undergraduate business school education.”
