Thirteen Dates with Gender Equality

INNOVATIVE AND IMPACTFUL RESEARCH IS AT THE CENTER OF A SERIES OF SEMINARS ORGANIZED BY THE AXA RESEARCH LAB ON GENDER EQUALITY AT BOCCONI, STARTING TUESDAY, OCTOBER 12

The more rigorous and innovative research is, the more it succeeds in impacting reality. With a new series of seminars, starting Tuesday, October 12, the AXA Research Lab on Gender Equality at Bocconi intends to showcase gender equality research that promises to have a significant impact on policy, business and everyday life.

“In addition to the potential for impact, to innovativeness and to methodological rigor,” explains the AXA Lab Director, Paola Profeta, “the other feature that the 13 dates share is the young age of the scholars who will present their studies.”

Gender equality is an exciting topic, but one that is not always easy to substantiate with research based on sufficiently large databases. “And instead,” Professor Profeta continues, “the young invited scholars have managed to do just that: to base their conclusions on a solid quantitative foundation, re-proposing in an innovative and convincing way themes such as the representation of women in children's books, which is the subject of the first seminar of the series, or the determinants of the gender pay gap - from women's low propensity to ask to the insufficient transparency of pay policies. Other themes range from women's leadership to the importance of networks, to women’s access to politics and the use of reference letters.”

Some of the presentations by European authors may take place in a hybrid mode; those with North American scholars will be exclusively online.
